Gold Expeditions for Schools & Groups
Expeditions Wales provides Expedition Opportunities, training, practice and assessment at all
levels of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for Schools, groups and organisations.
Our Gold Expedition courses are highly regarded for their format, allowing participants a convenient length of time to develop and practice all the crucial skills required for successful completion of expeditions, especially with regard to navigating in wild country and inclement weather, equipment and food planning.
We base our Gold expedition courses for groups in Mid Wales or Snowdonia and offer a truly challenging, enjoyable and memorable experience for all our participants.
From our Mid Wales base near Devils Bridge, we access the Elan Valley and Pumlumon hills of the Cambrian Mountains, both wonderful, scenic and remote areas perfect for Gold Expeditions.
We can also offer expeditions in other areas with plenty of notice.
Sample Programme
- Training course backed up with us providing the training materials for you to deliver in your own time, including information packs.
- Training and Practice expedition, including a full day of training on navigation, scenario’s, cooking and camp craft in remote terrain, team work and expedition efficiency, followed by a 4 day practice expedition in Wild Country.
- 4 day Gold Assessment expedition, assessed by Accredited Assessors.
In addition to this we will handle all the expedition paperwork, including notification, medical & consent, pre course information, parent handouts, emergency contacts, risk assessments and Insurance cover.
Price: £300.00 per person.

Price Includes:
All campsite fees. Supervision and Assessment by our team. Route planning advice and support, including provision of maps. Paperwork and support throughout the experience from start to finish. Insurance cover of £5 million.
Dates for group bookings are negotiable with notice. Discounts available for groups of 20 or more.
